Guide to the CopTech Forum/Axon Agency of the Year Technology Award

About This Award: This award recognizes a law enforcement agency for the successful selection, implementation, and deployment of a technology innovation resulting in the improvement of one or more of the following outcomes:

  1. Protecting the public and community served by the Agency, ensuring their safety, well-being, and security,
  2. Protecting the officers and staff employed by the Agency, ensuring their safety, well-being, and security,
  3. Advancing effective policing; efficiency; productivity; adherence to laws, rules, and best practices; or other improvements in the Agency’s ability to perform its duties,
  4. Advancing the values of Integrity, Courage, Service, Fairness, Trustworthiness, Responsiveness, and Communication. Agencies will be expected to uphold these values as a matter of course. The winning project should outline how it advances one or more of these.
  5. Any other activity which creates a more professional, more well-regarded, more respected agency in the view of multiple stakeholders.

Your description of the nominated project should include:

  1. What new hardware, software, method, or other innovation was introduced?
  2. What problem was it intended to address, and if relevant, what did it replace?
  3. How did the Agency select the innovation?
  4. What results were expected or promised at the outset?
  5. What results, so far, have been accomplished?
  6. What did the project cost, and are there any anticipated savings from its use?
  7. How did you demonstrate the value and/or overcome objections in order to bring the project to fruition?

Please tell us who made this project possible.

Your application should include the names, ranks, and titles of up to five persons who led the project in significant ways. Please include separately your agency’s top official (Chief, Director, etc.).

You may also list as many others as you feel should be recognized beyond the project’s leaders. (Space doesn’t permit their names to appear on the award, but they will receive a certificate.) You may include -level personnel who approved or supported the project and elected officials whose endorsement or funding assisted in making your project a reality. You may also include the names of suppliers and their personnel who facilitated your project.

A few details that may be relevant:

The Award will be presented in person at the 2024 CopTech® Forum, August 14-16 in Denver (Westminster), Colorado. The winning agency will be asked to accept the award and talk briefly about the winning project. The Committee and the sponsors endeavor to make this award a positive reflection of professional policing and adherence to recognized standards of law enforcement excellence. The selections of the Award committee are final.
